FM-3 Question

We have our house up for sale, and we hope to retire to Mexico in about four months. The Mexican consulate just sent me the form for an FM-3 card and visa.

I understand that if I enter Mexico with a trailer, I will have to pay duty if I only have a tourist card. But the FM-3 application assumes that I am already retired. It is hard to get hold of anyone on the phone, so my question is: I am still working, and I will not retire until
we've sold the house. I will have enough income from my retirement funds, but they want proof from my last three bank statements.

Can I merely show them my current bank statements (which meet the income requirements) and get the FM-3 card without being retired yet?l

Thanks, Vince
