How is Manzanillo?

I currently live in Rosarito Beach, BCN, and will be retiring soon. I am looking at different options, and Manzanillo seems interesting.

One concern is the huge spike in violence in Colima in general and Manzanillo specifically. From a percentages point of view, Rosarito Beach is right up there with Manzanillo in murders per capita, but I have never seen anything or felt threatened here. I know of various mafia hits in the area, but I feel like I can manage my exposure so I am not panicked.

How do you feel about the abductions, mafia murders, and general violence in Manzanillo?
