How is the weather in Merida?

Now, I’m from Texas, so I’m theory I should be able to handle a bit of humidity and heat. However, aside from some small lapses, I’ve spent 8 years in the Pacific Northwest, so I would say I’m out of practice with that type of weather. Additionally, there was good AC everywhere I went for most of my time spent in Texas. I guess the question is, is the year-round heat and humidity downright unbearable? And is it common for apartments to have AC or can it be obtained?
