Finding a Guide to the Lake Chapala area

What is the best way to find someone who can act as a guide to the varied Lake Chapala communities and put us in touch with people and organizations that can assist with finding housing and required services, when we arrive at the beginning of January?

We are somewhat familiar with the Lake Chapala Society, but contacting them previously, was told to visit them when we first arrive. We would prefer to have some definite plans or at least contacts in place before we arrive.
