Portland to Doha

I have an opportunity to expate for a 2year period to Doha with my existing firm as a sponsor. Any advice on the process/paper work of achieving expatriate status would be greatly appreciated. Visa's and passports? etc. Also, comments on living abroad in Qatar would be helpful.
