Visiting Northumberland

In February, my wife and I are going to be exploring from Edingburgh down to Norwich along the Northumberland coast as we plan on moving to UK next year. (My wife has citizenship though she has never lived there.) Curious as to what other Expats think of the area, if people are friendly and any advise. Will also be exploring the south coast at a future date but given our goals, the north east coast seems more fitting.
