Since my first visits to Sekondi/Takoradi, in 1990, I have been looking for bookshops there. Apart from office materials, school books, and religious works, I found nothing on other subjects (literature, science, travel, etc.). During my last, prolonged visit, friends of mine in Accra sent me books from their own library, if not it would have been a long stay without anything to read. In the last five years, Takoradi has changed beyond recognition, including a vibrant business center, a shopping mall, and fine restaurants. But no 'real' bookshops?
