Places to Stay

Based on previous experience, I have started booking several places for only a few of days when I get to a new place, to gage how I like them. Then, after deciding which/where I like it best, I make arrangements directly with the owner, rather than booking long-term stays via AirBnB.
Considering that the high season is starting soon, I'm wondering if this is too risky in the Boquete area. Am I running the risk of finding myself without a place to stay at all, if I don't booking for the entire duration of my stay way ahead of arrival?
