What activities, clubs and organizations would you recommend to newcomers to help them meet others?
The Cambridge Executive Club is an over 40s single club with lots of activities each month & it doesn't cost but 10 pounds a year.
There are lots of volunteering opportunities in town with numerous charities & hospitals.
Health clubs are excellent, too.
For the young adults, there are plenty of night clubs.
In terms of religious, racial, economic and cultural diversity, are the people of this city or town diverse? Are they accepting of differences? Describe.
Overall, Cambridge is a very diverse town culturally, religiously & racially. Most folks get along very well, however, there are -- like most places, some who will cause some trouble. But, this is very minimal in Cambridge. Not like other cities such as Manchester & London. They always have racial attacks in those towns.
What are the main industries in this city? What types of career opportunities commonly exist? How do most people find new jobs?
Cambridge University is the main employer & there quite a few national & international companies in the research parks around town. Everything else is service oriented -- clubs, hotels, tourism.
If a friend of yours was thinking of moving to this city or town from far away, what other advice would you give them.
Bring plenty of starter money. Most homes and rental properties are out of reach for the average white or blue collar worker within Cambridge. They further out you go, the more affordable it gets, but then you have the commute time & costs to absorb.
