Parent's Review of Dulwich College Beijing in Beijing, China

What is the name of your child's school? (Please report on one school per survey.)

Dulwich College Beijing

In what town or city is this school located?

Beijing

How would you describe this school? (i.e. American, British, International, Local, etc.)

British

What grade levels are represented at this school?

Pre-K to Year 11, going to Years 12 and 13 in 2008-9

How do most children get to school everyday? (bus, train, walk, etc.)

School bus and private transportation

How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?

The facilites are good - it is a new campus and my impression is that a lot has been put in place already for a school that has only been open three years. There is an extra curriculur programme.

What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?

I do not have experience of this as we joined the school while living in Beijing

How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?

Yes there are, and there are opportunities during the year for parents to join in e.g. Bonfire Night

What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?

My main interest has been in special needs education, particularly for a child with autism. Dulwich took over the independent school at the end of last year and are working on integration within the mainstream school. There is considerable good will and enthusiasm to include these children in the school, and the administration are taking the initiative seriously and putting time and effort into the longer term planning for this.
