Submitted by ResearchTeam

What is the name of the city or town that you are reporting on?

Port of Spain

If a friend of yours living in the same country were expecting a baby, what advice would you give her?

It is important to plan ahead and be prepared for the birth in Port of Spain. Make sure you research hospital options, speak with the hospital staff so you understand the protocol and the costs, and make sure to identify a reliable doctor and/or midwife who can provide support throughout your pregnancy and labor. Check to see if medical insurance is accepted at your chosen hospital, and don't forget to budget for the costs of childbirth and postnatal care. Additionally, ensure you have a good support network of family and friends who can provide assistance during the pregnancy and postnatal period. Lastly, take care of yourself throughout your pregnancy and look after any healthcare needs that arise.
