Parent's Review of Bjorns International School in Hellerup, Denmark

What is the name of your child's school? (Please report on one school per survey.)

Bjorns International School

In what town or city is this school located?

Hellerup

How would you describe this school? (i.e. American, British, International, Local, etc.)

international

What grade levels are represented at this school?

kindergarten class and on to 9th grade

How do most children get to school everyday? (bus, train, walk, etc.)

railway and buses but some parents drive

How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?

There are no good facilities at this school and no sports facilities at all. All in all a big waste of money. the school fees are very high but you do not get value for your money

What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?

I find that Bjorns international school favors the Danish students. The school has shown no interest whatsoever in assisting foreign children to settle into a new environment. This school promotes the interests of the danish parents only and takes money from the foreign parents very happily while caring nothing at all about these children's welfare.

How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?

There is a party at the end of school term when the parents provide food for the party and the teachers eat it. There is a school board but we have noticed that it only has representatives from the Danish families and serves to promote only the interests of these Danish families.

What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?

The leader of Bjorns international school is very interested in your money. You will be ripped off if you place your child here. So my advice is to enroll your child in a better school, which would be for example Copenhagen international school, Østerbro international school or Rygaards school, these schools have better reputations than Bjorns and they are run by far more professional leaders who are interested in a healthy culture and happy children.
