The surrounding landscape is forested and mountainous. Tourism exists but hasn't overwhelmed the place; visitors come for the architecture and history, not nightlife or resort amenities. The pace is slow. The air is clean. It's the kind of place where you hear church bells and birdsong more than traffic.
