"We applied with the DC Consulate Sept. 25, 2018 and got approved Nov. 5, 2018. We are an unmarried hetero couple. As such we each applied separately. I'm 63 and she is 52. I attested to support her financially in my declaration letter and she concurred same in her letter. We did not have to have the FBI background apostilized. We had a valid 6 month lease, but it was not "registered" Although not required, we did supply our NIF as we felt it would sweeten the pot per se". All of this along with the dear instructions found on this site has resulted in us getting our NIF while in the U.S. as well as health insurance with Allianz?Medal.
