Dears, I'm new in this forum.
I've got my Business visa this month, and i'm planning to come to Chile on Aug and Sep to travel the country and study different areas to see if I can start one or more projects to get my PR and passport later.
I've 3 main ideas:
Import and export products:
Import dates and perfumes from Saudi Arabia, artifacts from Egypt and Yemen, dried fruits from Indonesia to Chile.
Training and Consulting Company:
? Teaching English trough teachers from USA and Canada ? Providing training courses, accredited from international organization, by cooperation with international institute. ? Marketing for consulting program for developing and assisting values of employees and companies.
E-Marketing Agency:
Using new marketing methods to provide marketing services for companies, restaurants, schools, ..etc.
I didn't decide the budget yet, because i've to know the culture, what people like, competitors, prices,.. and too many things, that I hope i'll figure most of them during my visit.
Please let me know if you can help with your highly appreciated experience.
p.s. Sorry if this is not the proper forum to write in.

Hard to advise you with such wide search. But it seems you are focused on training, English and services.
My experience is that usually a small business providing services to Chileans, will need a Chilean counterpart as partner or joint venture. In particular if Spanish is not your native language. Otherwise you may pay a high cost on learning by doing. On my experience, if you are well guided, by the end of your second year you will have learned how to run a business by yourself blended with the Chilean culture.
Large companies start on their own, but they got plenty of money for studies and buy out whatever. Or have cash to finance their arrogance and mistakes.
Instead if you use Chile to provide services to foreigners with whom you may be familiar, then you have better chances to stand alone on your business. Otherwise you need Chilean company.
You should focus on business areas on which you already have expertise, because if to the normal risk of dealing with a new country you add the risk of an unknown business, then it may be troublesome. Unless you want to invest as a pasive investor on a Chilean business, not having a controlling position. On this last case you néed to focus on the expertise of the management to decide.
Hope thes ideas can help you. More suggestions on my site.
Kind regards Teo

thank you so much for the reply.
I'm planning to hire native Chilean to work in the firms, under my supervision, either as employee or as partners.
What about importing the products that I mentioned, do you think people in Chile will like it?

I have no experience with the products you mention. It all depends on the size of your goals and budget. You always can sell some to the right buyers.
Chilean consumers are more focused on purchasing products from USA, Europe and China. Smaller niches from India. For more specialized market niches you need to pay for research and travel.
