Work contract with notary

Dear Friends,

I have a question about the process of work contract in Chile. I was informed a contract with notary (un contrato de trabajo legalizado ante Notario, con las apostillas del Ministerio de Justicia) was required for visa. Did anyone have the similar experience to know how soon the process will be.

Thank you!

Hi, that is only for the "Visa sujeta a Contrato"
If you have at least a Bachelor's degree, you can apply for "Visa de Residencia Temporaria" the same if you are a freelancer and have two or more contracts.
If you are already in Chile paperwork is taking from 6 to 9 months until you finally have a Visa stamped in your passport.
If you are not yet in Chile, wait for August the 1st a new opportunity Visa will start being issued at Chilean consulates.
Best
Walt

Thanks a lot, Walt.
I have not been in Chile yet. Currently my employer is processing the contract with notary and, according to their letter, that formal contact is used for the application of the type of visa you mentioned. I am just wondering if the notary process with government would take a long time (so that I will be off for a vacation during the waiting period).
Since some other paper works can be unbelievably prolonged for 6-8 months, could that procedure of notary also be relatively long?
Thanks again.
