Hello. I want to make sure I have all of the papers and stamps I need to apply for Chilean residency. Is my list is complete? (Or what else do I need?) 1. Birth certificate, apostilled by the state. 2. Bank statements (do they need any kind of seal?). 3. Pension / retirement award letters, translated and notarized, and apostilled. 4. FBI Background Check, translated and apostilled. 5. Medical records (just bring the folder?). 6. Do I need my college diploma for anything? 7. Color copies of passport. AND if I understand, I take everything to the state capitol and have them everything apostilled that they will apostille. THEN take it to the Chilean Consulate (San Francisco for me), and have them review it? And THEN bring it with me to the Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores in Santiago? What did I miss?

Applying for the first time as a pensionado or retired, you can apply online filling out the correct form and uploading a passport quality photo, copies of your passport, a FBI clean record certificate, a copy of your last social security payment showing an income of more than 1200 us per month and a letter from your doctor stating that you are healthy enough to travel and reside in Chile. In two weeks, if approved go to the embassy with your passport and 460 bucks and get the visa and your passport stamped. You must enter Chile within 90 days of the visa date. This changes frequently so check the website .

Hi, I have a few questions about the "FBI clean record certificate":
1. Where do you apply for such certificate 2. How long it takes to received it after you applied 3. I have read somewhere that it has to be obtained no earlier that 30 days prior to your application for visa/residency/whatever it is the first step to living in Chile. Is that correct?
Thank you for help

Another question: The letter from your doctor stating that you are healthy enough to travel and reside in Chile is needed only for retired people or for younger ones too? What about children?

For documents in English I send the documents to Secretary of State (in my State), pay 10$ and get an apostile.
If the needed documents for Visa for Chile need to be in Spanish, where do we have to translate them, and where to apostile them? Isn't it this something that needs to be done in Chile by their official translators, and get the apostile there at some office?

I suggest that these very important questions need to be answered by the Chile Immigration office to be certain that they are answered correctly. I have found that many responses to immigration questions by posters here on this site have been answered incorrectly (especially by Socium and Liewald). Contact the Chile immigration experts in Santiago, Chile for the most accurate answers to your very important questions.
