Working as a nanny in Sri Lanka? Advice?

Hi guys..

I am married to a Sri Lankan who I met in the UK. We are considering moving to Sri Lanka in May 2014 when I have finished my BTEC in Health and Social Care to be closer to his family. The move will be just for a year or two, so I can go to university when I come back to the UK.

I would love to go but I am slightly nervous about what I can do out there in terms of jobs. So I was wondering whether I could get a job working as a nanny or in a school/nursery.

my husband thinks I can get a job in a bank or shop but because I want to go to university to study nursing when I come back to the UK I am treating this as a sort of 'gap year' where I'd like to gain experience working with children or a hospital setting so that it'll help me in my future.

Would anybody on this forum be able to offer advice or tell me whether I could get a job working for a family as a nanny? I'm trying to improve my Sinhalese before we go to be able to communicate and I speak English fluently - would that be a plus that I could teach the kiddies English? Also I have been working as a volunteer in a Primary School for the last year so have experience working with kids from age 4-8. And people say I'm good with kids, I enjoy looking after them, I can discipline them and make sure they are behaving whilst also making sure they have fun (this was learnt at the primary school) and I'm always volunteering to look after friends kids seeing as I enjoy it.

I would appreciate if anyone has any advice or can point me in the right direction - I would love to go to SL knowing I can get a job doing something I love for the next 2 years!

Sorry for the long post!!

Thank you in advance for your help!
