I have been coming to srilanka for the past 9 years staying sometimes 3 to 5 months but since the covid has hit the world I am confused as to what the requirements are at this time. I am vaccinated with the pfizer vaccine two months ago. Do I have to quarantine for 14 days and travel in bubbles. Some srilankans say no but the immigration emigration site still shows on the evisa you have to. I tried to contact the srilankan embassy in washington with nor reply. Anxious to return.

I am in the midst of arranging a tour. It is extremely valuable to work through a Sri Lankan tour agent. The best information is available at this website https://www.srilanka.travel/helloagain/

In particular note the revision as of April 7. 2021. https://srilanka.travel/helloagain/documents/Revised_Health_Guidelines_for_Travellers_to_Sri_Lanka_valid_from_06.04.2021.pdf

So if you have had your second vaccination more than two weeks ago, as you say, and have the documents to prove it, then you can get out of the biobubble after max 48 hours, they say.

Sadly, the expedited release from quarantine for the vaccinated is suspended as of April 23, 2021 due to a surge from a new strain of COVID. My tour schedule was dependent on this, so I have to postpone my tour. Glad I got full travel insurance, and bought the flight which can be rescheduled with no fees.

And now the ministry says - no we never said we were suspending the exception for vaccinated tourists, that was somebody else who misquoted us. Anyway, I am cancelling my plans now because the ICU capacity is nearly full and a number of locations are being isolated as many COVID clusters are arising. The travel agent has agreed to reschedule the tour for the Fall.

Oh, and watch out for flights with "free rescheduling". Turns out it was only the travel agency (eDreams) that doesn't charge for rescheduling, but the the airlines (Etihad) charges $200 for each rescheduling, plus any difference in fare.
