I have an account at LaFise and BAC in Costa Rica. I a moving to Nicaragua. Should I transfer the accounts or leave them?

I do not see how it would make a difference. Lafise as well as BAC are prevalent banks in Nicaragua where atm and branches are all over. However, since these are (abnormal times) I would asked the bank before making that move.

You should be able to withdraw cash at the ATM's, but if you want full banking services in Nicaragua (e.g., payments and local transfers to other accounts), I would open an account in the country.

Ask. They are the same parent company, but..
I used my BAC card in a Panama BAC ATM and they charged me the international $5 service fee.

My understanding is that a bank in Costa Rica may have the same name as a bank in another country, but they are considered an independent banks with respect to individual bank accounts ... e.g., you cannot transfer money directly from a Canadian Scotiabank account to a Costa Rican Scotiabank account. I assume that similar rules would apply between Costa Rica and Nicaragua.

Yup, I think it is called a national charter/ separate corporation. One would have to ask if anything is easier, such as a wire transfer.

Trying to move here during the wuflu and stand in lines in every office doesn't seem like a bright move.
