I have read in the forums that Covid negatively impacted the Ecuadorian economy, including Cuenca. I have also read in other venues that Ecuador has had an increase in crime, both violent and non-violent, like theft.
As expats living in Cuenca, what have you experienced? Or, heard locally? Is safety becoming an issue of has the crime increase (if any in Cuenca) subsided? What about opportunistic street crime?
