What cultural faux pas should I try to avoid making in Taipei?

Answer this Question

We asked people in Taipei if they could share any humorous cultural blunders they commited. For new expats, keep in mind that these incidents are an inevitable part of expat life. Learning to laugh about them is the key!...

"It is important to be mindful of cultural norms when visiting Taipei. It is considered rude to point with your index finger, so it is best to gesture with your whole hand. It is also important to be respectful of religious sites and to dress modestly when visiting temples. Additionally, it is important to take off your shoes when entering someone's home. Finally, it is important to be aware of the local customs when it comes to dining etiquette, such as not sticking your chopsticks upright in your food," remarked another expat who made the move to Taipei, Taiwan.
