What do expats find most challenging?
We asked expats and digital nomads what they find the most challenging about the local culture in Flores. They wrote...
"Expats in Flores often find the language barrier to be the most challenging aspect of the local culture, as Spanish is the primary language spoken and not everyone speaks English. The slower pace of life can also be a challenge for those accustomed to a faster, more structured lifestyle. Additionally, adjusting to the local customs and traditions can be difficult, particularly for those who are not familiar with Latin American culture. The lack of certain amenities and services that they might be used to in their home countries, such as high-speed internet or certain types of food, can also be a challenge. Lastly, the heat and humidity of the tropical climate can be uncomfortable for those not used to such conditions," remarked another expat who made the move to Flores, Guatemala.
