"The cost of living in Husavik is considered to be relatively high, similar to the rest of the country. Housing and rental prices are quite steep, especially for larger or more modern properties. Grocery prices are also high due to the fact that most food items are imported. Eating out at restaurants can be expensive as well, with a meal at an inexpensive restaurant costing significantly more than in other countries. Utilities such as electricity, heating, cooling, and water are also costly, as is the price of internet. Transportation costs, including gasoline and public transit, are high too. However, the cost of healthcare is generally low as it is largely funded by taxes and therefore free at the point of use. Despite the high cost of living, salaries in Husavik, and Iceland in general, are also high, which helps to offset these costs. Additionally, the quality of life is considered to be very good, with excellent public services, low crime rates, and beautiful natural surroundings," explained one expat living in Husavik, Iceland.
