For more serious conditions and emergencies, patients often have to be transported to the larger Peebles Hospital on the nearby island of Tortola. The healthcare staff on the island are known for their dedication and professionalism, but resources and equipment are limited. There are no specialist doctors based on the island, so residents often have to travel for specialist care. Despite these challenges, the government of the British Virgin Islands has been making efforts to improve healthcare services on Virgin Gorda, including plans to expand the Nurse Iris O'Neal Medical Centre," said a member in Virgin Gorda, the British Virgin Islands.
