What are healthcare services like in All Saints?

Answer this Question

We asked retirees if they have access to good medical care in All Saints. They wrote...

"Healthcare services in All Saints, Antigua and Barbuda are provided by a mix of public and private facilities. The public healthcare system is managed by the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment, which operates several clinics and health centers throughout the country, including in All Saints. These facilities offer a range of services, from general medical care to specialized treatments. The Mount St. John's Medical Centre, located in the capital city of St. John's, is the main hospital serving the entire country, including All Saints. It provides a wide range of services, including emergency care, surgical services, maternity care, and specialized treatments. In addition to the public healthcare system, there are also several private clinics and hospitals in Antigua and Barbuda. These facilities typically offer a higher standard of care, with more modern equipment and facilities, but they are also more expensive. Despite these resources, healthcare in All Saints and the rest of Antigua and Barbuda faces several challenges. These include a shortage of medical professionals, limited resources, and a high prevalence of chronic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension. The government has been working to address these issues, with efforts to improve healthcare infrastructure, increase the number of trained medical professionals, and promote healthier lifestyles among the population. Pharmaceutical services are also available in All Saints, with pharmacies providing prescription and over-the-counter medications. However, the availability of certain medications can sometimes be limited, and costs can be high. Overall, while healthcare services in All Saints, Antigua and Barbuda are generally accessible, they can vary in quality and cost. It is recommended that residents and visitors have comprehensive health insurance to cover any potential medical costs," remarked another expat who made the move to All Saints, Antigua & Barbuda.
