What are healthcare services like in Carriacou Island?

Answer this Question

We asked retirees if they have access to good medical care in Carriacou Island. They wrote...

"Healthcare services in Carriacou Island are relatively basic due to its small size and population. The island has a public hospital, the Princess Royal Hospital, which provides primary healthcare services. This includes general medical care, maternity services, and minor surgical procedures. For more complex treatments and procedures, patients often have to travel to the mainland of Grenada or even abroad. There are also a few private clinics on the island that offer medical services. The island has a small number of doctors and nurses, and visiting specialists from the mainland periodically come to provide additional services. Emergency medical services are available, but serious cases may require medical evacuation to a larger hospital off the island. Despite these limitations, the healthcare staff on the island are known for their dedication and commitment to providing the best care possible under the circumstances," remarked another expat who made the move to Carriacou Island, Grenada.
