Should I buy or rent a home in Port of Spain?
If you have not spent a lot of time in Port of Spain, you should rent before even thinking about buying. We asked expats there about the buy vs. rent decision...
"Whether to buy or rent a home in Port of Spain depends on a variety of factors such as your personal financial situation, preferences and the housing market in the area. If you have sufficient finances to cover the costs of a down payment and associated mortgage payments, and you intend on living in the area for the foreseeable future, then purchasing a home in Port of Spain may be a good option. However, if you don’t meet the criteria for mortgage approval or if you prefer to have more flexibility with your housing situation, then renting may be an ideal option for you. Ultimately, the decision to buy or rent a home should factor in your individual needs and preferences," wrote a member who made the move to Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago.
