What should I pack when moving to Eger?

Answer this Question

We asked people living in Eger to list three things they wish they had brought and three they wish they had left behind. They responded...

"When moving to Eger, you should pack a variety of clothing to accommodate for the city's four distinct seasons. This includes warm clothing for the cold winters, such as heavy coats, scarves, gloves, and hats, as well as lighter clothing for the hot summers, such as shorts, t-shirts, and swimwear. You should also pack comfortable walking shoes, as Eger is a city best explored on foot. Rain gear, like a sturdy umbrella and waterproof shoes, would also be useful as Eger can be quite rainy, especially in the spring and fall. Don't forget to pack any necessary prescription medications, as well as a basic first aid kit. It's also a good idea to bring a travel adapter for your electronics, as Hungary uses a different plug type than many other countries. If you plan on cooking, consider packing some of your favorite non-perishable food items, as they may be hard to find in Hungary. Similarly, if you have favorite toiletries or beauty products, it's a good idea to bring them along, as the selection may be different in Eger. Lastly, don't forget to pack important documents, such as your passport, driver's license, and any necessary visas or work permits. It's also a good idea to bring copies of these documents, in case the originals are lost or stolen," said another expat in Eger, Hungary.
