As a foreigner living in Taipei, will I have access to public healthcare? What is it like?

Answer this Question

We asked expats in Taipei if they have access to public healthcare in Taipei. And, if they do have access, what is it like. They wrote...

"As a foreigner living in Taipei, you will have access to public healthcare, provided you have a valid Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) and are enrolled in the National Health Insurance (NHI) program. The healthcare system in Taiwan is known for its high quality, affordability, and efficiency. Public hospitals and clinics are well-equipped, and many healthcare professionals speak English. The NHI program covers a wide range of medical services, including outpatient care, inpatient care, dental care, and traditional Chinese medicine. However, it is important to note that some elective procedures and certain medications may not be covered by the NHI. Overall, you can expect a comprehensive and accessible healthcare experience while living in Taipei," explained one expat living in Taipei, Taiwan.
