As a foreigner living in Vung Tau, will I have access to public healthcare? What is it like?
We asked expats in Vung Tau if they have access to public healthcare in Vung Tau. And, if they do have access, what is it like. They wrote...
"As a foreigner living in Vung Tau, you will have access to public healthcare. However, it's important to note that the quality of healthcare can vary significantly. Public hospitals in Vietnam are often crowded and the medical staff may not speak English fluently. The equipment and facilities may not be as modern or as well-maintained as what you might be used to in Western countries. It's also common for patients to be asked to buy their own medical supplies, such as syringes and bandages, from a nearby pharmacy before treatment. Many expats and wealthier Vietnamese people choose to use private clinics or hospitals, where the standard of care is generally higher. It's highly recommended for foreigners to have comprehensive health insurance that covers medical evacuation, in case of serious illness or injury," explained one expat living in Vung Tau, Vietnam.
