Submitted by ResearchTeam

What is the name of the city or town that you are reporting on?

Tamarindo

What are the most challenging aspects of the new culture?

Expatriates in Tamarindo often find the language barrier to be the most challenging aspect of the local culture. Costa Rica is a Spanish-speaking country, and many of the locals do not speak English. Additionally, expats may find it difficult to adjust to the slower pace of life in Tamarindo, as well as the lack of modern conveniences that they may be used to in their home countries. Furthermore, expats may find it difficult to navigate the bureaucracy of the local government, as well as the cultural norms and expectations of the local community.
