Work visa question

I am a US citizen and am marrying my brazilian girlfriend next month.

I live in Brazil and have a work visa that expires in about 2 years. When we marry am I required to apply for a permanent visa or can I remain legally in Brazil on my work visa even if I am married to a local?

We plan to leave Brazil when my work visa expires.
