Rent a house & Buy a car

Hi Everyone,

We are looking to rent a house long term in Floripa starting April 2013. We are on a student visa.

We hope to find; 1-2 Bedroom house with garage located not very far from lagoa da Conceição - 5-15 minutes drive is fine.

Budget; 800-1200 Reais a month.

And we also want to buy a car.

Does anyone have an experience buying a car? And what is the price for new and used cars? (just an estimate)
A car good for two people is fine.

Would be huge help to find some advice.
