Funding buying a home in Brazil

Hi!

My wife and I are looking at homes here in Brazil. We found a few worthy of follow-up, so its time for me to learn.

I want to move around $200,000.00 from my US bank account into my Brazilian bank account.

* Do I understand correctly, the IOF for this should be 0.38%?

* Any recommendations for the best money transfer provider at this scale?

* Anything else I should be taking into account?

Whatever you decide to do make sure the money is transferred through the bank from buyer to seller, or through a reputable currency transfer company like Moneycorp. This way the money is registered with the central bank in Brazil in case , in the future, you need to repatriate the funds.
Good luck

I recommend that you transfer the money as a donation to a trusted relative in Brazil. Then make the payment in the name of the relative, but the data of the good, in this case, the property, is in your name. Less headache and a little more money to buy the property.
