Do the local ones here eat snakes? I have seen pigeons roasted and served in the local restaurants in Beijing and Guangzhou.

When I visited Shanghai in November, I was served snake at a dinner. It was fried and quite delicious, although a little bony for my taste.

I think the answer is YES they do. I have been to several restaurants, where I have seen restaurants receiving nets with snakes, that all got skinned right away. It has been ordered for me a few times, and I dont find any special taste to the meet.

Oh dear, you'll get many different answers. I'm a Chinese American. I don't remember I've ever had snakes in my life. My daughter had once during her visit to China. She said it tasted like fish or eel, no big deal. It's your choice having it or not.

Yes, but I've never had them myself. Pigeons are farm raised in China. I made soup with it, just like I make cornish chicken soup in US.

I've seen a Beijing bartender bite off the head of a live snake, then drink a draft of Budweiser. Even could see blood seeping through his teeth.
