Is it me or is Medellin not that friendly?

I have been living here for a while now. Things are NOT so friendly around here, for me that is.

I have never really said hello (hola) to someone , ever, no matter where in the world I am, and be looked at like they want to eat my kidneys or do harm to me for saying hello.

Friendly, the term "friendly" to me is being nice to all, being nice to anyone because, well, it's the friendly thing to do.

Here, it's been quite the opposite for me. People say "Well you gotta know the Paisa's to love them." Well then to me, that's just not "friendly."

Anyway, I am a sincere person and it bums me out to be treated the way I am treated here.

Just wondering if it's me or if this is just the way it is.
