I am planning to work with a JA Developer on some projects. I need to obtain my Real Estate License and wondered if anyone on here has information on getting licensed as a broker in JA? I could get it here in NY if there is reciprocity? I will have a million more questions as well as I hope to be planning my move in the next few months.
SO to start: What are the first three things I should get busy finding out before planning to work and move from the US? (and don't say learn about the hardships of life on the island because I know that) Thank you!

The real estate course is offered at University of Technology in Kingston and I think you should contact the Real Estate Board, they will be able to answer all your questions.

You will have to be licensed here in Jamaica. You will also have to pay taxes here and in the US.

Where do you plan on living and can you live in the typical Jamaican salary?

You mention hardships... what hardships are you talking about? I’ve never encountered hardships here. If you’re talking about the ungodly slow pace of life then yes, that can be hardship. You’ll need to give yourself at least 18 months to get acclimated to the pace of life. Nothing and I mean nothing moves fast except for taxi drivers.

What is your current status in Jamaica? Do you have one or will you apply for your residency and unconditional landing when you get here? Check the PICA website so you know what you need... when you land you’ll only be allowed to stay a maximum of 6 months unless you apply for your status.

I hope that helps.... those are things I can think of off the top of the head.
