Possibly moving to Panama with a young child

Hey there! We are seriously conidering moving to Panama (we still have to get a buncha ducks in a row first) and I am wondering about how the transition will be for our 7 year old. I have read that there are bilingual schools (he and I are in the process of trying to learn spanish) but we are a far far way from that goal. Are the public schools bilingual? or is that a private school thing? If its a private school thing are they expensive? We are ALL about speaking the native language...however I would like the transition to be as smooth as possible for him : ) thanks!
