My husband and I will be moving to the Hua Hin area soon and I’m wondering if I can get Cymbalta (duxoltine) there? Does anybody know? Thank you!

From what I have been able to find so far, that drug should be available in Thailand, but not sure about Hua Hin. I have asked an up-country nurse I know to get a price and I recommend you contact hospitals in Hua Hin as pharmacies probably can't sell it because it is a controlled drug. This means it could be expensive, so you might want to ask your doctor at home before you come here if he can recommend some generic alternatives. Here is a short list of hospitals you can check:
Bangkok Hospital Hua Hin
San Paulo Hospital
Hua Hin Hospital
Morbunkrong Hospital
Bangkok Dusit Medical Services

If you intend to bring some with you until you find a local source, be sure that it is in the original unopened package and that you have a doctor's prescription or it could get confiscated.

The best prices I have seen for medicine in Thailand are at Chula Bhesaj (Chula Pharmacy) in Bangkok and a nurse tells me that there are a number of pharmacies with good prices in the vicinity of Victory Monument. But I do not know yet if they sell Cymbalta

Thank you so much for this information! I am taking the generic called Duloxetine. I don’t pay anything over here in the states for it. Hopefully, one of the hospitals you listed will have the generic I currently take.

Thank you again!

That drug has about a zillion different names depending on the country it is sold in. However, a web search indicates that the generic you are using is available in Thailand, but not sure about Hua Hin.. And according to drugs.com, Duloxetine hydrochloride (a derivative of Duloxetine) is reported as an ingredient of CYMBALTA in Thailand among other countries.

I have seen it advertised on online pharmacy sites at less than $!/pill, but I do not know if any of those sites are credible. As soon as the nurse gets back to me, I I hope to have a local Thailand price.

I just called Chula Pharmacy in Bangkok and they advised that they have a generic of Cymbalta that they sell for Thai Baht 1745 for 28 pills 60mg which comes t about US$2.oo per pill. A hospital is likely to charge quite a bit more, but you might be able to find better prices than at Chula Pharmacy. I did not ask about the prices for lesser dosages, but they probably have it in 30mg as well.

I can’t thank you enough for the research you’ve done. Having the price of the pills will help me know how much money I’ll need to budget each month. Thanks again!!

Another quick question: do you know if the price would be cheaper if I have private insurance? Thank you.
