Teens and Schooling

Hi everyone, I am British actually wanting to relocate back to my home country, currently in the States. I joined because my kids moved to the states when they were 5 and 8 and know nothing else. My eldest is now a junior and my youngest a freshman! I may have to live with my parents in Ireland or a friend in England while we look for work permanently in the UK - has anyone either kept their kids out of school for 6 months or home schooled them temporarily? I am having such a a hard time figuring this out. thank you
