"In general, the cost of living in Iowa can be considered affordable compared to other states, with housing, groceries, health care, transportation, and utilities all being cheaper than the US average. Renting in Iowa is also relatively inexpensive, with a nice 1-bedroom apartment typically costing around $900 a month and a nice 2-bedroom apartment averaging around $1,200 a month. The cost to eat dinner at a moderately priced restaurant can range from $15 to $30 per person, depending on the city and type of restaurant," wrote one expat living in Iowa.
