By Betsy Burlingame

Last updated on Aug 23, 2023

Summary: An expat looking to buy a home in Serbia should begin by researching the local real estate market. They should look for listings on websites such as Immo-Serbia, Real Estate Serbia, and Property Serbia. It is also important to contact a local real estate agent who can provide more detailed information about the properties available. Homes in Serbia typically include amenities such as air conditioning, central heating, and modern appliances. Many homes also have balconies, terraces, and gardens. Foreigners are allowed to purchase property in Serbia, but there are certain restrictions. For example, foreigners are not allowed to purchase agricultural land or land located in certain protected areas. Additionally, foreigners must obtain a permit from the Ministry of Interior before they can purchase a property.

How do I find a place to live in Serbia?

We asked expats how they chose their neighborhood and found a place to live. They answered:

"One of the best ways to find a place to live in Serbia is to search online for rental listings. Websites such as Njuskalo, Stanovi, and Nekretnine are popular sites for finding rental properties in Serbia. Additionally, you can search for rental listings on social media sites such as Facebook and Instagram. You can also contact local real estate agents who can help you find a suitable place to live. Additionally, you can ask friends and family who live in Serbia for recommendations," remarked one foreigner who made the move to Serbia.
