Summary: An expat looking to buy a home in Slovakia should begin by researching the local real estate market. They should look for listings on websites such as Realit.sk, Zoznamreality.sk, and Reality.sk. It is also a good idea to contact a local real estate agent who can provide more detailed information about the properties available. Homes in Slovakia typically include amenities such as central heating, air conditioning, and modern appliances. Many homes also have balconies, terraces, and gardens. Foreigners are allowed to purchase property in Slovakia, but there are some restrictions. Non-EU citizens must obtain a residence permit before they can purchase a property. EU citizens are allowed to purchase property without a residence permit.
How do I find a place to live in Slovakia?
We asked expats how they chose their neighborhood and found a place to live. They answered:
"One of the best ways to find a place to live in Slovakia is to use online resources such as real estate websites. These websites typically list available properties in Slovakia, including apartments, houses, and other types of dwellings. Additionally, you can search for rental properties on classifieds websites such as Craigslist or Gumtree. You can also contact local real estate agents who can help you find a suitable place to live. Additionally, you can ask friends and family who live in Slovakia for advice and recommendations," said one person in Slovakia.
