What do I need to know before moving to Westerhall Point?

When we asked people what advice they would give someone preparing to move to Westerhall Point, they said:

"Westerhall Point is a residential area located in the parish of St. David's, Grenada. Before moving there, expats should know that the official language is English, but many locals also speak Grenadian Creole. The local currency is the Eastern Caribbean Dollar, but US dollars are also widely accepted. The cost of living in Grenada is relatively high compared to other Caribbean countries, so it's important to budget accordingly. Housing can be expensive, especially in desirable areas like Westerhall Point. However, the cost can vary greatly depending on the size, location, and amenities of the property. Grenada has a tropical climate, with a wet season from June to December and a dry season from January to May. It's important to be prepared for this, especially if you're not used to living in such a climate. Hurricanes can occur during the wet season, so it's essential to have a plan in place. The healthcare system in Grenada is of a good standard, with both public and private facilities available. However, comprehensive health insurance is recommended as medical costs can be high, especially for serious conditions or emergencies. Grenada is generally a safe country, but like anywhere, crime does exist. It's important to take standard precautions, such as locking doors and windows, not displaying wealth, and being aware of your surroundings. The island is known for its friendly and welcoming locals, vibrant culture, and beautiful natural scenery. There are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy, from hiking and snorkeling to exploring the local markets and festivals. Public transportation in Grenada is reliable but can be crowded. Many expats choose to rent or buy a car for more convenience. Driving is on the left side of the road, and an international driving permit is required. Finally, it's important to respect local customs and traditions. Grenadians are generally conservative and religious, and it's important to dress modestly, especially when visiting churches or other religious sites," remarked one expat living in Westerhall Point, Grenada.
