What advice do you have for expats having a baby in Clementi?
We asked expat moms who gave birth in Clementi about their experiences and advice they have for other moms to be. They said...
"Firstly, it's important to familiarize yourself with the healthcare system in Singapore. The country has a high standard of healthcare and many hospitals have maternity units. You should choose a hospital that suits your needs and budget. Secondly, consider hiring a confinement nanny or maid to help you during the postnatal period. This is a common practice in Singapore and can be a great help, especially if you don't have family around. Thirdly, make sure you understand the maternity leave policies in Singapore. Both parents are entitled to paid leave, but the duration and pay can vary depending on your employment contract and citizenship status. Fourthly, consider joining expat groups or parenting groups in Clementi or Singapore in general. These groups can provide support, advice, and companionship during this exciting but challenging time. Fifthly, start planning for your child's education early. Singapore has a competitive education system and spots in popular schools can fill up quickly. Lastly, remember to take care of your own health and well-being. Having a baby in a foreign country can be stressful, so make sure you're eating well, getting enough rest, and taking time for yourself," commented one expat who made the move to Clementi, Singapore.
