Avoid discussing sensitive topics such as drugs, crime, or illegal immigration, as these can be seen as offensive or disrespectful. Do not assume everyone speaks English. While many people in Ajijic do speak English due to the large expat community, it's polite to at least attempt to speak Spanish. Avoid being overly loud or boisterous in public places, as this can be seen as disrespectful. Do not litter or disrespect the environment. Ajijic is known for its beautiful natural surroundings, and locals take pride in keeping their town clean. Avoid being impatient or rushing things. Mexican culture values a slower pace of life, and it's considered rude to rush or pressure someone. Do not ignore local customs or traditions.
