What do expats find most challenging?
We asked expats and digital nomads what they find the most challenging about the local culture in San Marcos. They wrote...
"Expats in San Marcos often find the language barrier to be the most challenging aspect of the local culture, as not everyone speaks English and communication can be difficult. The slower pace of life can also be a challenge for those used to a more fast-paced, structured environment. Additionally, the lack of certain amenities and conveniences that they might be used to from their home countries, such as reliable internet or certain types of food, can be difficult to adjust to. The cultural emphasis on relationships and socializing can also be challenging for those who are more introverted or value their privacy. Lastly, understanding and navigating the local bureaucracy can be a significant challenge, particularly when it comes to things like obtaining residency or dealing with property issues," commented one expat who made the move to San Marcos, Nicaragua.
