What do expats find most challenging?

Answer this Question

We asked expats and digital nomads what they find the most challenging about the local culture in El Tunco. They wrote...

"Expats in El Tunco often find the language barrier to be the most challenging aspect of the local culture, as Spanish is the primary language spoken and not everyone is fluent in English. The slower pace of life can also be a challenge for those accustomed to a more fast-paced, structured lifestyle. Additionally, adjusting to the local cuisine, which is heavily based on corn, beans, and local fruits and vegetables, can be difficult for some. The lack of certain amenities and services that they might be used to in their home countries, such as high-speed internet or advanced healthcare facilities, can also pose challenges. Lastly, understanding and adapting to local customs and social norms, such as the importance of family and community, can be a significant challenge for expats," mentioned another expat when asked about moving to El Tunco, El Salvador.
