Cancun, Mexico

What do expats find most challenging?

Answer this Question

We asked expats and digital nomads what they find the most challenging about the local culture in Cancun. They wrote...

"Expats in Cancun often find the language barrier to be the most challenging aspect of the local culture, as not being fluent in Spanish can make daily tasks and communication difficult. They may also struggle with the slower pace of life, which can be frustrating when dealing with bureaucracy or waiting for services. The heat and humidity can be difficult to adjust to, especially for those from cooler climates. Some expats may find it challenging to navigate the local customs and etiquette, which can be quite different from their home countries. Additionally, the high level of tourism in Cancun can sometimes make it difficult for expats to fully integrate into the local culture. Lastly, safety concerns and corruption can also be challenging for expats living in Cancun," mentioned another expat when asked about moving to Cancun, Mexico.
